Burbank, CA city history is akin much of California history. It goes back to the Spanish expedition of the late 1700s (including the founding of missions by Junipero Serra) but from the late 19th to early 20th centuries it took its name from David Burbank, the dentist who came to own much of the local land. Eventually it became the city which bears his moniker. Burbank home to many entertainment firms and of course is famous for movie studios such as Walt Disney or Warner Bros. That’s a big reason which it’s known as the Media Capital of the World.

Toluca Lake, CA’s history is similar to that of most of the L.A. area. Like Burbank it goes back to the Spanish expedition of the late 1700s. This small enclave south of Burbank is known for tony shops and restaurants and was and is home to celebrities. The most famous of these is probably the comedian Bob Hope. In fact the local airport was named in his honor several years ago. Hope’s co-star in many famous “road” movies in the 40s through 60s was singer Bing Crosby who also had a home here. Toluca Lake is home to one of the oldest Bob’s Big Boy restaurants in the country, dating from 1949. Other, more recent additions include the Rustic Spoon.
